The life and times of Copywriter, Steve Taylor.
I just got back from the Weapons of Mass Creation Festival in Cleveland and I had an absolute ball. I’m not sure if Cleveland has grown such a vibrant creative culture since I left or if it was there right under my nose, but I’ve fallen in love with the city all over again. I got to hear so many inspiring creatives discuss their work, their methods and their motivations. It ranged from Johnny Cupcakes himself to the always popular Friends of Type.
I also got to experience the Gordon Arts District in all of it’s glory for the first time ever. I can honestly say, I’d never heard of this area until I showed up but I’m really glad I did. I ate the most amazing food at Happy Dog and Market Garden (not in Gordon) and caught Prometheus at the Capital Theatre, which had a really old school cinema feel to it.
All in all, it was an amazing weekend and it’s motivated me to reconnect with my midwestern roots and perhaps venture back there to continue my career in the area I called home for 25 years. I’m trying to network with as many people as I can, while getting in touch with anyone I met or heard at the fest. It will be a long process, but I think a lot of good will come out of this and I can’t wait to see where my life takes me next. The whole experience reignited my passion for being a creative and I look forward to the future.
